1. Who we are
Goldfish Memory (the “App”) is operated by HiveDevOps Technology Sociedad de Responsabilidad Limitada (“HiveDevOps,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a company organized under the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you use the App and related services (together, the “Services”).
By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. This Policy should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.
2. The short version
Goldfish Memory is a single-player memory-training game. The information that leaves your device is: (a) a public leaderboard row — the display name and avatar you choose plus your best score and best-run stats; (b) a private cloud backup of your game data, tied to your anonymous account; (c) your subscription and purchase status; (d) anonymized gameplay analytics events and crash reports that are not linked to your identity; and (e) in the free version, ad-serving data collected by Google AdMob when it shows an interstitial ad between runs. You never need to give us your real name or email to play — the only exception is the optional Apple or Google sign-in for protecting your progress, which shares your email (and name) with us. We do not send push notifications (reminders are scheduled on your device), and we do not sell your data. Goldfish Memory Premium removes all ads. The rest of this Policy explains the details.
3. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Anonymous account identifier. The first time you open the App, an anonymous account is created for you automatically through Firebase Anonymous Authentication. This mints a random user identifier (“UID”) tied to your install. We do not ask for your real name, email address, or phone number, and unless you choose the optional sign-in below, this account does not include them.
- Optional sign-in data. You can optionally sign in with Apple or Google (in Settings) to protect your progress across devices. If you do, we receive the email address and name provided by Apple or Google and store them in your authentication record. Sign in with Apple lets you hide your real email. Signing in is never required to play.
- Profile & gameplay data. The display name and avatar (an emoji) you choose for each in-app profile, along with your scores, best runs, memory-span and streak records, daily activity, and settings. This data is stored on your device and in the cloud backup below.
- Cloud backup. A backup of your game data (profiles, progress, records, and settings) is stored in Cloud Firestore under your anonymous UID so your progress can be restored — for example, after a reinstall or on a new device. It is readable only by your account, and Delete all my data removes it (see Section 12).
- Anonymized analytics events. In release builds, the App sends a small set of named gameplay events (for example “run started,” “run ended,” “paywall viewed”) with numeric or fixed-choice properties, plus basic system information (OS name and version, app version, locale, and a random in-memory session identifier) to Aptabase, a privacy-focused analytics service. These events are not linked to your UID, display name, or any persistent device or advertising identifier.
- Crash reports. If the App crashes or encounters an unexpected error in a release build, a crash report — stack trace, device model, operating system version, and app version — is sent to Sentry so we can fix the problem. We configure the SDK not to include personally identifying information, and reports are not linked to your account.
- Leaderboard data. If your profile earns a score, we publish one row to the global leaderboard containing the display name and avatar you chose, your best score, and your best-run statistics (longest span, longest streak, best zone), attributed to your random anonymous UID. This row is publicly visible to other players (see Section 5).
- Device & technical data. When your device connects to our cloud providers, standard technical information — such as your IP address, device type, and operating system — is processed to deliver the leaderboard, cloud backup, authentication, analytics, and crash-reporting services.
- Purchase data.Your subscription status, entitlements, and transaction identifiers for in-app purchases (Goldfish Memory Premium and “Continues”). Payments are processed by Apple and Google; we do not receive or store your full payment-card details.
- Advertising data. The free version shows a third-party interstitial ad served by Google AdMobbetween runs (see Section 8). When an ad is served, Google may collect device information under its own privacy policy — including your device’s advertising identifier, IP address, and ad-interaction data — to serve and measure ads. Our own “house” promotions (shown as a fallback) are served from within the App and do not collect an advertising identifier or any additional data from you. Goldfish Memory Premium removes all ads.
4. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Create and maintain your anonymous account, and link it to your Apple or Google account if you choose the optional sign-in.
- Run the game and save your profiles, scores, records, and settings — on your device and in your cloud backup.
- Publish and display the global leaderboard.
- Process subscriptions and unlock premium entitlements and Continues.
- Understand aggregate gameplay (through anonymized analytics) and diagnose crashes and errors, so we can improve the game.
- Show advertising in the free tier — third-party AdMob interstitials (in accordance with your consent choices, where required) and our own promotions.
- Maintain security, prevent cheating, fraud, and abuse, and enforce our terms.
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to your support requests.
5. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the game and leaderboard you request), your consent (for example, personalized ads, where required), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Services and keep the leaderboard fair), and compliance with legal obligations.
6. The global leaderboard is public
Goldfish Memory has a worldwide Top-100 leaderboard. When your profile posts a score, the display name and avatar you chose, your best score, and your best-run statistics are uploaded and shown to everyone who views the board. Because this information is public, please do not use a display name that reveals your real identity or any information you would not want to be seen publicly. The row is linked only to a random anonymous UID — not to your real name, email, or device contacts.
You control whether you appear on the board: a profile with no score is never published, you can change the display name and avatar at any time (which updates your row), and deleting the profile or using Delete all my data in Settings removes your leaderboard row (see Section 12).
8. In-app advertising and your choices
The free version of Goldfish Memory shows advertising between runs only — never during gameplay:
- Third-party interstitial ads (Google AdMob). At most once per app session, the between-runs break may show a full-screen interstitial ad served by Google AdMob (Google LLC). When AdMob serves an ad, Google may collect and process device information — such as your device’s advertising identifier, IP address, and general device and ad-interaction data — to serve, measure, frequency-cap, and protect the integrity of ads, under the Google Privacy Policy. See also how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
- First-party “house” promotions. When a third-party ad is not shown, the same slot may show our own promotions for HiveDevOps games and features, such as Goldfish Memory Premium. These are served from within the App and do not collect your advertising identifier or track you across other apps or websites.
Consent in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland.Where required, the App shows Google’s consent form (User Messaging Platform) before any third-party ads, and ads are served only in accordance with your choices. You can review or change your choices at any time in the App via Settings → Privacy options.
Your choices everywhere. You can reset or limit your device’s advertising identifier in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and Apple Advertising; Android: Settings → Google → Ads, including “Delete advertising ID”). Subscribing to Goldfish Memory Premium removes all ads — third-party ads and house promotions alike.
9. Third-party services we use
We rely on the following providers. Each processes data under its own privacy policy; we encourage you to review them:
- Google Firebase & Google Cloud (Anonymous Authentication and Cloud Firestore for the leaderboard) — Google LLC. Firebase privacy.
- Google AdMob — third-party advertising network that serves interstitial ads in the free version (see Section 8) — Google LLC. Google privacy · How Google uses data.
- RevenueCat — subscription management and purchase validation. RevenueCat privacy.
- Aptabase — anonymized, privacy-focused gameplay analytics (hosted in the United States). Aptabase privacy.
- Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) — crash and error reporting. Sentry privacy.
- Apple / Google sign-in — optional account linking, if you choose it (see Section 3). Apple · Google.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — purchase processing and delivery. Apple · Google.
10. Data retention
Your profiles, scores, records, and settings live on your device and in your cloud backup. Local data is removed when you delete it or uninstall the App; the cloud backup and your leaderboard row are retained until you delete your profile or all of your data. When you delete your data, we delete the associated leaderboard rows, your cloud backup, and your anonymous account, except where we must retain limited information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Anonymized analytics events and crash reports are not linked to you and are retained only as aggregate or diagnostic data.
11. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent.
- Costa Rica. We process personal data in accordance with Law No. 8968 on the Protection of the Person against the Processing of their Personal Data, overseen by the Agency for the Protection of Data of Inhabitants (PRODHAB).
- EEA / UK (GDPR). You may exercise the rights described above and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
- California (CCPA/CPRA).You may request access to and deletion of your personal information and are entitled to non-discrimination for exercising your rights. We do not sell personal information. Third-party advertising in the free version may involve “sharing” of device identifiers for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by California law; you can opt out through the App’s privacy options, your device’s advertising settings, or by subscribing to Goldfish Memory Premium, which removes ads entirely (see Section 8).
To exercise any of these rights, email info@hivedevops.com. Because accounts are anonymous, you may need to provide information (such as your leaderboard display name and approximate scores) so we can locate the data associated with your request.
12. Deleting your data
You can delete your data directly in the App at any time. Open Settings → Delete all my data and confirm. This wipes your profiles, scores, records, and settings from your device andremoves your leaderboard rows and your cloud backup from our servers and deletes your account (including any linked sign-in data). Deleting an individual profile also removes that profile’s leaderboard row. You can additionally uninstall the App to remove all local data. If you would like us to confirm deletion or help with a request, contact info@hivedevops.com.
13. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
14. International data transfers
We and our providers may process and store your information on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.
15. Security
We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and server-side security rules that let a device write and delete only its own leaderboard rows. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
16. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice within the App or by other appropriate means.
