1. Who we are
PillStamp (the “App”) is operated by HiveDevOps Technology Sociedad de Responsabilidad Limitada (“HiveDevOps,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a company organized under the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you use the App and related services (together, the “Services”).
By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. This Policy should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.
2. The short version
PillStamp is a confirmation-first pill reminder: you mark each dose as taken. We do not ask for your name, email, or a password. Your medications, schedules, and dose logs are stored on your device and backed up to the cloud (Google Firebase) under an anonymous identifier, encrypted in transit, only so you never lose your data and can restore it. Your medication data is never used for advertising, never used for profiling, and never sold. The only other information that leaves your device is minimal: usage and crash data (with no medication names in it) and the data our ad network needs to show a banner ad.
3. Important health notice
PillStamp is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult your doctor, pharmacist, or another healthcare professional about your medications. Reminders can fail — for example, if your phone is off or out of battery, or if notification permissions are revoked — so never rely on the App as your sole safeguard for critical medication.
4. Information we collect
- Medication data. The medication names, doses, and schedules you enter, and the timestamps of the doses you mark as taken. You enter this data; we only store it for you.
- Anonymous identifier. When you first open the App, an anonymous account is created automatically (Firebase Authentication). It does not include your name, email, or anything that directly identifies you.
- Device & technical data. Device type and operating system, app version, language, approximate region/IP address, and diagnostic or crash data.
- Usage & analytics. Events within the App (for example, that a dose was logged). These events are action names only — they never include your medication names or health details.
- Advertising data. The App shows a Google AdMob banner ad. Our advertising provider may collect device and advertising identifiers as described in its own policy.
5. Where your medication data lives
Your medications, schedules, and dose logs are stored in a local database on your device and mirrored to Google Firebase Cloud Firestore under your anonymous identifier, encrypted in transit. That cloud copy exists for one purpose: backup, restore, and sync, so your data survives a new phone or a reinstall.
Your medication data is never used for advertising, never used for analytics or profiling, never shared with the ad network, and never sold. You can delete it at any time with the in-app data deletion option, which removes both the local copy and the cloud copy. Uninstalling the App removes the local copy from your device; if you also want the cloud copy gone, use in-app deletion before uninstalling, or contact us.
6. How we use your information
- Provide the Services: show your schedules, log your doses, and back up, restore, and sync your data.
- Schedule the local reminders and alarms you configure.
- Show the banner advertising that keeps the App free.
- Analyze usage to fix bugs and improve features.
- Maintain security and prevent fraud and abuse.
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to your support requests.
7. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the Services, including backing up your medication data), your consent (for example, personalized ads, where required), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Services), and compliance with legal obligations.
9. Third-party services we use
- Google Firebase (anonymous Authentication, Cloud Firestore for backup, Analytics, Crashlytics) — Google LLC. Firebase privacy.
- Google AdMob — banner advertising. AdMob & privacy.
- Apple App Store and Google Play — app distribution. Apple · Google.
10. Advertising & your choices
The App shows banner ads through Google AdMob; that is what keeps it free. If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, we ask for consent before showing ads via Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) form, and you can change your decision at any time from the ad privacy options inside the App. You can also limit ad personalization and reset your advertising identifier in your device settings. Your medication data is never shared with the ads SDK and never used to pick the ads you see.
11. Reminders & notifications
PillStamp’s alarms and reminders are local notifications: they are scheduled and shown on your device, without passing through our servers. Their content never leaves your phone. You can turn them off at any time from the App or from your system settings.
12. Data retention & deletion
We keep your medication data for as long as you use the Services, so we can back it up and restore it. The in-app data deletion option removes your medication information from both your device and the cloud. Uninstalling the App removes the local copy. Analytics and diagnostic data are kept only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, per our providers’ retention periods.
13. Your rights and choices
- Costa Rica. We process personal data in accordance with Law No. 8968 on the Protection of the Person against the Processing of their Personal Data, overseen by PRODHAB.
- EEA / UK (GDPR). You may access, correct, delete, or export your data, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent, and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
- California (CCPA/CPRA).You may request access to and deletion of your personal information and are entitled to non-discrimination for exercising your rights. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
The fastest way to delete your data is the in-app deletion option. To exercise any of these rights you can also email info@hivedevops.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
14. Children’s privacy
The App is intended for adults managing their own medications and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
15. International data transfers
We and our providers may process and store your information on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.
16. Security
We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit between your device and the cloud. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
17. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice within the App or by other appropriate means.
